Shoe Fly Pie
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup King syrup
- 1/4 cup Brer Rabbit molasses
- 1/4 cup boiling water
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 egg
- 1 cup flour
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 2 unbaked 9 or 10 inch pie shell
Instructions
To prepare bottom part
- Beat egg in mixing bowl.
- Add King syrup, molasses, and water.
- Stir in soda.
- Stir all this well as you add to the egg.
To prepare the top part:
- Mix together the flour, sugar, and butter with a fork until it is the texture of coarse crumbs.
- Mix 1 cup of the crumbs into the molasses mixture.
- Pour into pie shell.
- Sprinkle the remaining crumbs on top.
Bake at 375° for 35-40 minutes or until lightly brown and puffy.
Dressing for Salad
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup vinegar
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup oil
Instructions
- Combine ingredients.
- Shake well before using.
Heavenly Slaw
Ingredients
- 1 head cabbage
- 1 piece of celery
- 1 small green pepper
- 1 small onion
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard

- 1/2 cup vinegar
Instructions

Popcorn Balls
Ingredients
- 2 quarts popped corn
- 2/3 cup karo syrup
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Mix together karo syrup.
- Salt in heavy saucepan.
- Cook with moderate heat for 2 minutes or until sugar is dissolved, stirring constantly.
- Pour over the popped corn in deep kettle and stir over medium heat 3 to 5 minutes or until corn is evenly and completely coated with mixture.
DO NOT SALT THE POPCORN UNTIL YOU MIXED THE SYRUP ON.
WHEN POPPING CORN, USE A LOT OF CRISCO OIL.
Impossible Pie

- 2 cups milk

- 1/2 cup Bisquick

Peanut Butter Cookies

- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup peanut butter

- 2 1/2 to 3 cups flour

- Beat eggs and sugar [until] light.
- Add all ingredients except flour and soda.
- Add flour and soda last.

- 2 packs butterscotch morsel
- 1 can Chinese noodles
- 1 can salted peanuts

- Melt butterscotch morsels over hot water.
- Pour morsels over noodles.

M&M Cookies
Ingredients
- 1 cup shortening
- 1 cup of brown sugar
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 2 eggs
- 2 1/4 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups M&M candy
Instructions
- Blend shortening and sugars.
- Beat in vanilla and eggs.
- Put in the rest of the dry ingredients together.
- Add to eggs and wet ingredients. Mix well.
- Stir in 1/2 cup of M&M. Keep the rest for [the top.]

Peanut Butter Fudge
Ingredients
- 4 cups sugar
- 1 tablespoon vinegar
- 2 tablespoons white karo syrup
- 1 cup evaporated milk
- 1 pt (12 oz) peanut butter
- 1 pt (7 oz) marshmallow

- Boil sugar, vinegar, white karo syrup, and evaporated milk for 4 minutes.
- Add peanut butter and marshmallow.
Noodles
Ingredients
- 6 egg yolks
- 6 tablespoons water
- 3 cups flour
- pink of salt

- Beat egg yolks and water a few minutes.
- Add flour to dough stiff as can be worked in.
- Divide in flour balls.
- Roll very thin.
- Lay separately on a cloth until they don't stick together.
- Then lay on top of each other, roll all together and cut as desired. A meat slicer works very well for slicing them.
German's Sweet Chocolate cake
Ingredients
- 1 pkg Bakers German Sweet Chocolate
- 1/2 cup boiling water
- 1 cup butter (or shortening)
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 egg yolks unbeaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 1/2 cups sifted Swans Down Cake flour
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 4 egg whites stiffy beaten
Instructions
- Melt chocolate in boiling water - cool.
- Cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
- Add egg yolks, one at a time, and beat well after each.
- Add melted chocolate and vanilla. Mix well.
- Sift together salt, soda, flour. Add alternately with buttermilk to chocolate mixture, beating well.
- Beat until smooth.
- Fold in beaten egg whites.
- Pour into pans
- Bake 350 degrees 30-40 minutes.

- Combine evaporated milk, sugar, egg yolks, butter, and vanilla.
- Cook and stir over medium heat until thickened. About 12 minutes.
- Add Bakers Angel Flake Coconut and pecans.

Carrot Cake
Ingredients
- 4 eggs
- 1 1/3 cups brown sugar, lightly packed
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon each - salt, nutmeg
- 3 cups grated raw carrots
- 1/2 cup raisins
- cream cheese frosting
Instructions
- Beat eggs and brown sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Stir in melted butter and lemon juice.
- Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, salt, and nutmeg; sift into egg/sugar mixture half at a time.
- Blend well.
- Stir in carrots and raisins.
- Pour into greased and floured 9" Bundt pan.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until top springs back when touched.
- Cool in pan on rack.
- Remove from pan.
- Spread with cream cheese frosting.
Mince Meat (Elva Dehart)
Ingredients
- 2 lb cooked and drained raisins
- 2 lb ground cooked beef (hamburg)
- 5 lb. ground apples
- 1 tsp nutmeg
- 1 tsp cloves
- 3 tablespoons cinnamon
- 3 lb. sugar
Instructions
- Use as much sweet cider (1 qt to 1 c cider?) to taste and then as you like it.
- Mix together and cook for 20 minutes then can it.
- Salt to taste.
